SBA Offers Disaster Assistance to Missouri Small Businesses Economically Impacted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19)
[SACRAMENTO, Calif.] – The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering low-interest federal disaster loans for working capital to Missouri small businesses suffering substantial economic injury as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), SBA Administrator Jovita Carranza announced today. SBA acted under its own authority, as provided by the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act that was recently signed by the President, to declare a disaster following a request received from Gov. Michael L. Parson on March 17, 2020.

Michael and Amanda Osborn are the new owners of MMAD Spirits Distillery, soon to open in West Plains. The Osborns recently received a microloan offered through the Ozarks Small Business Incubator (OzSBI) to establish their business. MMAD Spirits Distillery will offer a variety of brews, including specialized whiskey and rum. MMAD Spirits Distillery is located at 1524 Porter Wagoner Boulevard in West Plains. [FROM THE MISSOURI DEPT. OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT] – The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) approved seven Missouri small business incubators for a total of $500,000 in tax credits under the Small Business Incubator program.
Each year, the program helps generate private funds to establish a protective facility-based or virtual environment (incubator) and provide small businesses with support and resources to operate. This type of working environment fosters growth and development during a business’s early stages.

OzSBI has been awarded $99,852 in 50% tax credits by the Missouri Department of Economic Development. Any individual or business with a Missouri tax liability is eligible to receive the 2018 tax credits by making a donation to OzSBI. Tax credits directly reduce the donor's state taxes by 50% of the donated amount, which is in addition to the standard state and federal charitable tax deductions.
