Intellectual property (IP) assets can be among the most valuable assets for any small business, but not many entrepreneurs take the necessary steps to protect and defend those assets. This interactive seminar will cover the four basic types of IP: patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets. Workshop discussion will include an overview of the steps needed to secure IP protection, what rights that protection conveys and how to defend your IP.
Workshop will address questions such as:
- For small business owners, is it worth the time and effort to secure intellectual property rights?
- Once I get a trademark, my brand is safe, right?
- Having a patent gives me the right to produce something ... wait, it doesn't?
- If I have a patent or trademark in the United States, do I need to worry about the rest of the world?
